Time flies when you are having fun!! The PTA volunteers at Briarcliff Elementary help bring so many fun and wonderful things for the students and staff. Listed below are just some of the things that have already occurred so far this year!

May 11th, Friday, 5:30 - 8pm -- Spring Fling!
Always a great time for the Briarcliff families and it was a beautiful night! Games, bouncy houses, face painting, balloon artists, prizes and food! Don't forget about that fantastic silent auction! Thank you to the PTA for organizing another fun Spring Fling and for all the teacher, parent, and teen helpers that volunteered throughout the evening. Thursday-Friday, April 19th - April 20th: Pasta for Pennies Thank you for everyone's support with the Pasta for Pennies campaign! For 2 days, Briarcliff raised money with lots of coins for Olive Garden's 16th Annual Pasta for Pennies program for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. On these days, students filled collection jars in their classroom with any coins and pocket change that they wanted to donate. Monday-Friday, April 16th - April 20th: Teacher Appreciation Week In addition to a fun week celebrating our wonderful teachers and staff, the PTA wants to thank all the amazing parent volunteers that helped with the Spring Teacher and Staff Appreciation Luncheon on Friday, April 20th from noon - 1:00pm and will round out Teacher Appreciation Week. From helping with the luncheon to covering the class so the teachers could enjoy lunch together, thank you for helping our teachers and staff feel special. A giant THANK YOU to Kristen Walker for organizing the luncheon! Fridays, March 23rd and February 10th: Briarcliff Bingo Nights! Our annual Bingo Night are always huge successes! With many of you joining the fun, we had record attendance and therefore a record profits for the PTA which in turn goes directly to help the needs of the teachers and Briarcliff. With Farmer Brown (aka Mrs. Russell) and Mr. Richburg, debuting the Bingo scene, our fearless callers kept the Bingo and prizes moving. A big Thank you goes to our Bingo organizers (Elizabeth Wolgin and Marain Ingham) as well as all the great volunteers who helped with this super fun event. Thank you to Elaine Friedrich for helping with such a robust and beautiful prize table! Friday, December 16th: Holiday Teacher Luncheon Thank you all so much for helping to make our Briarcliff Teacher and Staff Holiday Luncheon a success! Thanks to Kristen Walker, our Hospitality Chair, for organizing and running this wonderful event for our teachers! Whether you donated money, covered a teacher's classroom, brought a dessert or helped with the setting up/cleaning up, it is all greatly appreciated! The teachers and staff all loved being able to share a meal together. Happy holidays! November 14-18: Book Fair! Cowboys and aliens invaded our Media Center the week of November 14th at our annual Scholastic Book Fair. The week kicked off with a fun family night with book sales, dinner, and performances. Mrs. Wilson did a wonderful job directing our very own 3rd graders in a special hoe-down and then invited the General Assembly Chorus to sing their festive ,uplifting acappella music. The book fair was a success and we made a record amount. All profits will go to enhancing technology at Briarcliff. Friday, October 21st: Fall Fest! What a wonderfully Spook-tacular event for the Briarcliff fabulous fall festival put on by our amazing PTA!! Great music, costumes, and food! There was face painting, a pumpkin patch, rope maze, and lots of fun games with prizes!! Over 300 families enjoyed the evening! Thank you to all our volunteers and teachers who helped this evening be all treats and no tricks! Through October 21: Pass the Hat for Briarcliff! Hopefully, the ONE and ONLY PTA donation drive to cover the operating budget for the 2011-2012 school year. All donations are so greatly appreciated and the PTA was able to raise almost $5,000! The PTA retained 100% of the donation and these funds directly benefit all Briarcliff students. Thank you for your support!!! Tuesday, October 11: McTeacher Night! A fun night was had by all! Thank you so much for all the teachers and volunteers for serving the students. They loved seeing their teachers behind the counter! Thanks again for making the night such a success and bringing so many smiles to the children's faces! October 7th, 1st Briarcliff Family Movie Night! What a great night for dinner and a movie (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) with the Briarcliff Bulldogs! Everyone had a great time and a big thank you to the parent volunteers that helped make this event possible! Money raised from this event allowed the PTA to fund teachers with their special classroom requests. We hope to do another event in the spring! September 15th, Family Night at Qdoba! Thanks to all who took a break from cooking and helped support Briarcliff by coming to family dining night. Qdoba donated a portion of their proceeds to the Briarcliff PTA which directly supports the Briarcliff students. It was a lot of fun to hang out with classmates! August 2011: Teacher and Staff Welcome Back-to-School Luncheon! A huge THANK YOU to all the people that contributed to the Teacher Luncheon before school even began! It was a great way to welcome back the Teachers and Staff of Briarcliff Elementary! |
